ESD Policy & SOP

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Policy

Our institution is committed to minimizing risks associated with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) in all operational areas, particularly in handling sensitive electronic components and equipment. ESD can cause significant damage to devices, lead to data loss, or disrupt operations. Through strict compliance with ESD control measures, we aim to ensure safety, maintain product quality, and protect valuable assets from electrostatic damage.

  • Establish and maintain ESD-protected areas (EPAs) across facilities.
  • Ensure all personnel handling sensitive devices follow proper grounding procedures.
  • Use certified ESD-safe materials, tools, and equipment in workstations.
  • Promote awareness and training on ESD hazards and prevention techniques.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

To ensure effective implementation of our ESD Policy, the following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) provide a structured framework for handling, monitoring, and prevention.

1. Personal Grounding

  • All personnel must wear wrist straps or heel straps when inside ESD-protected areas.
  • Grounding devices must be regularly inspected and tested for effectiveness.

2. Workstation Controls

  • Workstations must be equipped with grounded mats, ionizers, and ESD-safe tools.
  • Prohibit use of non-ESD safe materials in sensitive work areas.

3. Material Handling

  • Transport sensitive devices only in ESD-approved containers and packaging.
  • Ensure proper labeling and segregation of ESD-sensitive components.

4. Monitoring and Training

  • Conduct periodic audits of ESD-protected areas and procedures.
  • Provide regular training sessions to employees on ESD awareness and compliance.
